Circus Seals
Sea lion lounge.

Off the coast of California, near the Channel Islands, these sea lions flutter, flip and flop over each other with the greatest of ease. Over 80,000 sea lions live and breed in the Channel Islands.

Their gregarious nature and playful antics have made California sea lions the trained seal of choice for zoos and circuses. However, they are just as extroverted in nature (as anyone who has ever been to Pier 39 in San Francisco can attest). They have been known to investigate swimmers and scuba divers. And c’mon, they’re adorable. We couldn’t resist making them a CSI!
